As in many Islamic arts, the art of calligraphy transcended to the younger generations with the master-apprentice relationship. Calligraphy, meaning the profession of "fine writing", is learned by exercising with the master, it starts with one letter and ends with the given permission.</span></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color:rgb(143, 113, 75); font-family:arial,sans-serif">Throughout history, the scripture of the Qur'an has been the common scripture for Islamic communities. Ottomans, one of the civilizations that contributed immensely in order to enhance and beautify this form of writing, established calligraphy as a form of art. The quote "Qur'an descended in Hedjaz, read in Egypt, written in Istanbul" is an incredible statement that highlights this truth. However in order to keep our traditional arts such as calligraphy, it needs to be kept in agenda.</span></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color:rgb(143, 113, 75); font-family:arial,sans-serif">We, Albaraka, have established several works in order to keep this distinguished art alive, support the transition to the younger generations and to wake the attention regarding our traditional arts in general.</span></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color:rgb(143, 113, 75); font-family:arial,sans-serif">Since 2005, with Albaraka International Calligraphy Competitions, we are providing a humble contribution to this art in order to provide its deserved value. Our goal is to support the voluntary veterans of the art of calligraphy, to create many more calligraphic art works through the hands of younger calligraphers and to preserve the sacred texts that are woven through the hands of these esteemed artists for next generations.</span></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color:rgb(143, 113, 75); font-family:arial,sans-serif">We want to provide the support for art of calligraphy, our traditional heritage with an unwavering determination, as much as we can.</span></em></p>
